SPLIT OPEN JAZZ FAIR
Split is a musical city, there is no doubt about that. Some of the most famous and important music festivals and awards are held in Split. This summer for example, unfortunately, one of our greatest singers left us forever. And to prove how much the music meant to the city, the last farewell the city gave him was bigger than almost anything the city ever saw. Sailing boats with flares gathered in the city port to pay their respects, along with hundreds of people who sang his songs on the Riva. So it should come as no surprise that Split Open Jazz Fair is being welcomed into the Split music family.
Being held at the Strossmeyer Park, popularly known as Đardin, it is not just a feast for the ears. Not only is the park beautiful, but just a few meters down are the walls of Diocletian’s Palace and the famous statue of Grgur Ninski. The festival is being held over two days, 31st of August and 1st of September. As this is the first edition of the improvised and creative music festival, they made sure to make it the best. The first day brings you the band Waveform and The Classic Croatian four + 1, who are the opening act. Both are well-established bands, with well-known concert players.
Day two is reserved for Šporkestar from Split and Elena Stella & A.J. Jazz Trio. These are touring bands who have perfected their craft all over Croatia. And this summer you have the opportunity to hear them live on Split Open Air Jazz Fair!
