Restaurant in city center

One of the many restaurants in the Split city center that is worth visiting. Though it is not located in the Diocletian Palace, but a few hundred meters from it, it is still very accessible. Though the restaurant is new (opened in the 2016/2017 season), it has already made a name for itself. And keep in mind that it is not easy to do so in the Split culinary scene. Split has had an amazing boom in (mostly) good restaurants in the recent years, and it is not easy to get the word out about new restaurants. The best way to do it is, of course, by having amazing food. Which Articok restaurant has in spades!

Though the food is truly amazing, it isn’t the only thing worth seeing at this place. The owner of Articok restaurant is an interior designer by trade, even though he has been in the restaurant business for quite while. So he just mixed his love of art, design and food to make Articok. Though self admittedly not a brilliant chef, he says the most important thing is that he truly enjoys food. And he understands that the packaging is almost as important as the taste of the food itself.

Because of the unique ‘upbringing’ of the restaurant, the food looks as amazing as it tastes. Whether it is simply tapas with amazing wine, or more complex meals, it both looks and tastes amazing. And you simply must try anything that has lavender and chocolate in it!

  1. Lucky to get a table!

We booked online, only 7pm was available. However, we did not hear back. We walked in at 6pm. We were told that if we can finish in one hour, we could have a table. The menu was simple. The fish dish was my favorite. This is a restaurant that anyone in Split should experience, if you are lucky.

  2. An absolute highlight!!!!

We’ve been very very lucky to get a table at articok’s, thanks to a super friendly and attentive waiter who arranged and switched things for us. afterwards, we had a phenomenal dinner and enjoyed the fancy but also cozy interior and the great service. it’s best to place a reservation – this restaurant deservedly has a lot of fans!

  3. Innovative twist to local Croatian cuisine

This restaurant popped up on several times when we were researching for good restaurants in split. The cuisine was described to be fusion and creative and that certainly was what we had.

Great service as we started off with some good old gin & tonic. The menu was interesting with many items that we would have liked to try. But we opted for the fish soup and a very unique sharkmeat and other seafood platter. Our mains of risotto (a little on the salty side) and Dalmatian style stew with gnocchi were well executed too. Portions were generous and unfortunately we didn’t have space for dessert.

  4. Parfaot

  5. The terrible server

One server(who has cully hair) was worst.

When we asked to him to bring the menu, he started to teach us.

He said that we should find the server and guideed by them. That’s right.

However when we get into the restaurent nobody come to us. And even another people come, they just seat where they want.

Anyway he taught us for a while how to act in split restaurent.

If we had a big mistake, he can advice to us.
However, that was not. And we felt that he treat us because of we were asian people.

And eventhough he need to said to us something, he should ask to us before starting his rude teaching.

The choice of this restaurent was the only mistake in split.

We are the customer, not the student.
