Bistro Toć is only a few minutes away from the palace, and the most popular beach Bacvice. It is a small family bistro opened in 2012. They are following seasonal food and ingredients and are changing offer very often.  You can always find something new and different in their menu. Faithful traditional specialties are the part of their offer facing international cuisine and vegetarian masterpieces. With homemade cakes in the bistro, you can always drink a glass of fine Croatian wine.

Bistro Toć

Bistro Toć is offering a variety of dishes from Croatia and the world. You can also have a breakfast and surprisingly find Mexican and before mentioned vegetarian meals. The bistro has a very charming terrace in a narrow street in Toć. It’s located near the train and bus station so it has become one of the meeting places of many transit tourists passing through Split and swapping stories of the best places to travel and eat. The prices are not over the top, and it is providing very nice decoration inside and out.

  1. “amazing and excellent welcome”

We found this excellent bistro purely by accident having popped into a local bar and the owner of the bar on asking for food took us along to Bistro Toc and wasn’t this a fantastic surprise. We were offered a welcome drink and then the owner Damir apppeared from the kitchen and made us feel very welcome. Cold meat appeared in delicious bread and then followed the freshest of mussels and delicious bread and then some wine – all courtesy of the host. Where could you ever find this kind of hospitality.

We returned three times more and had delicious food. A must for everyone.

  2. “Great Place”

A lovely meal. I had the shrimp (70 Kuna) and my husband the lamb (70 Kuna) as well as a green salad. Food was delicious, presentation wonderful, service = fantastic and value for money, superb. We will probably eat there again tomorrow nigh

  3. Two wonderful meals at Bistro Toc

Had two wonderful meals here during our week’s stay in Split. For our first, we went for more traditional Croatian fare – delicious homemade (by the grandmother the night before!) gnocchi with shrimps and salmon (I am still dreaming about this meal) and ‘Spanish birds’ (veal escalopes stuffed with parmesan). For our second, we tried the Mexican cuisine – nachos and vegetable quesadillas. The nachos were particularly good and it was great to be offered hot chilli sauces to accompany these, as I often miss spicy food when travelling in Europe. Large portions and friendly service. Cocktails were excellent too – I sampled the ubiquitous aperol spritz and a frozen mango margarita. The courtyard is peaceful, shady and very pleasant to sit in. Bistro Toc is only a few minutes’ walk from the Palace and well worth seeking out.

  4. Over-rated, average at best

We went here for dinner after all the recommendations so perhaps our expectations were on the high side. The food was nice, service was great but nothing special to write home about. So we kinda left a tad bit disappointed. We paid around €60 for the two of us – main & 2 drinks plus bottle of water.

  5. Lovely Mexican Food

I liked this little restaurant! The outside seating is lovely and the prices are reasonable. Good selection for vegans and the waiters are clued up on helping vegans. I had the nachos which were pretty tasty, and the tofu wrap which was nice also! Didn’t blow me away but good food if you’re vegan and struggling to find food in Split!
