Summer is definitely the best time to be in Split, and when warm days are here, the city bursts into bloom. Just like many restaurants, as they open their gardens and one of the prettiest to enjoy those summer days is definitely Galerija food bar. It is a restaurant with old Dalmatian dishes located in the heart of the Diocletian’s Palace.

All meals are prepared with eco certificated ingredients. The offer is specific: traditional Dalmatian dishes of fresh, seasonal and local vegetables. Vegetarian offer is also rich, and it is based on seitan and tofu. All ingredients are purchased from well known and trusted manufacturers. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are bought directly from a small farm nearby Split, whose owner every morning delivers what he had just picked up in his garden. Supplies are bought in small quantities and prepared only when the guest orders.

Food is never prepared before and it won’t stand for hours waiting for its guest. So, you will also have a fresh meal! Galerija food bar is an ideal place for breakfast, a light lunch or a romantic dinner! It is our pleasure to be enriched by its presence.

  1. “Vegetarians, rejoice!”

Lovely restaurant with terrific service and wonderful food. Especially great for vegetarians who tire of pizza and pasta. The mezze plate was tasty and both the tofu dishes (smoked tofu salad and tofu wok) were delicious. Add a peaceful setting and great wine — we will be back!

  2. “Delicious homemade vegetarian options!”

awesome food! We had homemade pasta with smoked salmon and multi-coloured courgette, couscous salad and I had the hempseed pasta with cashew cream, pepper pesto and rocket. All of our food was delicious and good size portions, the service was very friendly, if a little slow once it became busy and not too loud (difficult in Split Old Town). We would have loved to have time to visit again.

  3. Great cafe in Split

Loved the service from start to finish, the wine was fantastic and both the burrata starter salad and two mains we got which were the vegetarian pasta dish with home made pasta and vegan Asian tofu were fabulous. Thank you !

  4. “Beautiful restaurant tucked away from the crowds.”

This is a lovely small restaurant tucked away in the beautiful streets in Split. I had the tofu meal which was fantastic, my husband the beef cheek which he said was delicious, my Daughter the smoked salmon which she loved and our smaller children the pasta. The local red wine is a must. The staff were friendly and helpful

  5. Not so cheap, but good

It’s not the cheapest place, but set within the beautiful Diocletian’s Palace serving good food and wine. Worth a try if looking for a quality restaurant.

  6. Expected a bit more from Galerija

Superb locaion: in the Old Town and nestled in a courtyard.

After reading some good reviews, we decided to pop in in our first night in Split. We ordered a mezze plate that consisted of a wee salad, hummus and pesto at £10… a bit pricey and the hummus had a different texture than we are used to. On to mains, we ordered the tofu wok and the barley with cuttlefish. They were good and flavoured but we were not wowed. I think the rice and the barley was a bit undercooked.

Service was attentive without being abruptive.

  7. Plain food

This restaurant was in a beautiful location and the service was great. However, I was slightly disappointed in the plain food. Myself and my boyfriend are vegan and decided to get two meals and shared them which was easy enough as there are a few options for vegans. We had the tofu fried rice and the homemade pasta, both of which I found disappointingly plain and lacking in flavour. It was nice to have some healthy food but left feeling unsatisfied! We were with another couple, one of them had the salmon with wasabi and absolutely loved it – so I think this restaurant just wasn’t to my taste!

  8. Amazing food, lovely surroundings.

We found this charming restaurant while wandering around The Old Town of Split. The menu looked interesting and different so we gave it a go.
Ordered shrimp and ricotta ravioli and Adriatic Shrimp Pasta. Both were fantastic! Full of balance and complex flavours, faultless.
We dined in the mother of all thunder storms sat under the awning, all adding to the atmosphere of the place.
Good wine too along with excellent, attentive and friendly staff.
Cost £60 all in, great value.
