Villa Spiza is a local’s favorite traditional street food restaurant, steps away from the palace walls. This low-key joint offers great quality Dalmatian food and daily changes menu – providing amazing fish dishes, risottos, kinds of pasta and some great meat dishes – at great prices. First, there was a small restaurant placed in a narrow street in the city’s center, but after gained popularity, now they have another space right across it.

It’s fresh home cooking served at the bar inside with a small number of tables and a couple of benches outside. Service is slow but the food is amazing and as fresh as can be, prepared with love. It was build up from scratch, with a lot of passion, hence it’s a charm.

Villa Spiza is one of the must eat places in Split if you want to try some traditional Split’s or Dalmatian food. Mostly you can find fish and seafood, but they also offer sufficient meat dish. It is not too recommendable for vegetarians.

Of course, it’s busy. Of course, you are likely to wait for food to be prepared but also going to be amazed at the same time. So believe us when we say – you’ll love Villa Spiza.

  1. “Excellent everything!”

Perfect choice of foods, homely atmosphere, exceptional energy – places and people who work here. I was more than excited when I got to the plate Arctic, same as my grandmother prepared. I will always come back for more !!!!!!

  2. “Home Made Food In the Dioclesian Palace”

To my surprise a small door led me to a rustic and simple balcony, behind it a joyful young woman, daughter of a cook called Gama in Split! So far I’m a stranger to the place.
Once I sat in the balcony and chose from the daily menu (every day it changes, she cooks according to what available and fresh in the local markets), I observed the the way she handles the pan, food, condiments, she even explains you what she is doing.
Great food, excellent price, local beer and wine.
Different atmosphere, nothing fancy, but that’s what makes the place unique.
    Worth a try!!!

  3. Local and friendly atmosphere...

If you are snob who doesnt like fresh food without a proper menu..then this isnt a place for…if you want a perfect service with waiter just for you and a table far away from other people..its not a place for you..but if you want to try something fresh, non-pretencious food prepared on a most simple way without ruining the basic flavour of ingrediendts, then you can choose this simple and honest place…

  4. “Yummy home-cooked food with friendly and laid back atmosphere”

This is my favourite spot in Split. Villa Spiza is a small charming cafe with open kitchen where you can enjoy live actions. My friends ordered risotto and I had calamari. We all very much enjoyed our food. But I guess the x factor of this small local hang out is its friendly staff that you almost thought you were at a friend’s apartment cooking for you. However, this is not a fast food joint. It takes about 20 mins to prepare food so you got to be patient. There are some benches in the alley in front of the cafe, so you can have some drinks, chit chat with your friends or perhaps the locals while waiting for your meal. Note that it’s a very casual place. There is no table, only bar and stool seats. Villa Spiza is definitely a place to visit when you’re in Split!
